The Snake

The Snake

You're walking down a trail, warm sunlight gently brushing your skin, when suddenly, out of the corner of your eye, you see it...

Did it just move, or was that a play of the light?

You freeze.

Staring. Waiting.

Adrenaline pumping through your system. Trying to determine whether or not it's safe to take another step...

Is it a rope?

Or is it a snake?

Maybe there's nothing to worry about at all...

But make the wrong choice and it could cost you big time!

This is the power of perception.

One little thing sends us down a rabbit hole of worry. We may laugh about it later when feel like our safety isn't threatened, but the damage is done.

And the deck is stacked in favor of anxiety because our primitive amygdala is attuned to seek out threats in order to keep us safe.

It's no wonder that people are suffering record levels of stress, adrenal burnout and exhaustion.

It's because we have not come to terms with our own misperception. And far too few are willing to risk being wrong in any meaningful way that will impact the way they live and love.

There is a deeper level of this analogy that goes to the very core of our existence in the world; consciousness itself.

What is Real?

Does our misperception of the world give rise to the entire beautiful and terrifying experience of Life?

I don't know. Not for sure anyway. And neither do you.

That's why we must be kind.

Because everywhere around us people are running for their lives from imaginary snakes.

Stop fueling the fear.

Be the grounded voice of comfort and reason.

That's the only way you can begin to be part of the solution. Otherwise you're just throwing more logs on the inferno.

With Love,

The Mystic Next Door

P.S. I have a way to help you solve fear and anxiety at a very deep level, and there is one more chance for you to learn it this year. Hit "reply" if you're interested.
