The Tesla Question: What Change Are You Actually Afraid Of?

The Mystic's Message·Nick Hansinger·Aug 23, 2025· 3 minutes

A guy at the post office stopped me yesterday and asked if that was my Tesla in the parking lot.

"Yeah, that's mine," I said.

"Aren't you afraid the lithium battery is going to burst into flames!?"

It took me a second to get my bearings. I was just dropping off some crystal orders to be shipped for Kisma. I was not at all ready for exploding batteries.

What followed were 5 action-packed minutes wonderfully weird conversation about electric cars right in the middle of the blazing Vegas heat. Ended with a fist bump.

He was a New Yorker, and my favorite part was how his accent would get stronger the more excited he got.

These random interaction are one of the many reasons I love Vegas.

But He Wasn't Really Asking About My Car

Walking away, I realized something...

He wasn't really asking about lithium batteries.

He was asking about change itself.

"Aren't you afraid of doing something different? Something that might not work out? Something that could blow up in your face or burn your life to the ground?"

And here's the thing—most people ARE afraid.

So they stay stuck. They keep doing what they've always done. They let other people's fears become their own in service of the status quo.

And the worst part…

They never discover what's possible when you stop being afraid of "exploding" and start being afraid of staying exactly where you are.

The Real Question

What transformation are you avoiding because you're afraid it might not work?

Maybe it's:

  • Finally learning to make peace with yourself instead of fighting your incessant inner critic

  • Setting boundaries and holding them— without feeling guilty

  • Trusting your instincts instead of seeking everyone else's permission or approval

  • Choosing authenticity over perfection

The truth is, staying stuck is the real danger. Not the change itself.

Because every day you remain fighting some part of yourself is another day of your precious life spent struggling instead of thriving. Grinding instead of flowing.

Choose Your Fear Wisely

I hate to be the one to break it to you— But you're going to be afraid either way. The real question isn’t whether you can overcome the fear.

The question you really need answered is this: Do you want to be afraid of growth, or afraid of staying small?

Do you want to fear the possibility of finding peace with yourself, or fear spending another year disappointed with who you see in the mirror?

Because this is the difference between transformation and stagnation.

And if you’re ready to choose growth over stagnation— I have something you’ll want to consider very carefully.

P.S. Yes, I still love my Tesla, despite the auto-pilot making some VERY questionable decisions. We don't use that feature anymore. But no explosions or meltdowns yet. 😉
